Your Shelter Shutters come with all necessary supplies
to install onto a typical door or sidelight
Each shutter comes with 15 stackable foam adhesive squares (between 4 and 8 are needed depending on size) for installation of the shutter to the door, and 3 steel adhesive discs (only 2 are needed) to use for closure on doors without a steel glass frame.
If the molding surrounding the glass elevated more than 1/4 ” from the door surface, you may need 3 layers of pads. Extra pads can be purchased on request at a nominal charge.

Fit Different Size Vision Panels
When the door is flat, with no elevated glass frame, your Single Fold Shelter Shutter can be considerably oversize and still work correctly. Below are examples of how one size glass panel can be covered by several different size shutters.
Ideally, you want the shutter size to be between 2” and 3” wider and longer than the glass itself, but if the shutter is wider than what’s needed, simply back the shutter away from the glass so when it unfolds, it only extends an inch or two past the glass (enough for placement of steel adhesive discs).

Our stock size Shelter Shutters are made the same way as our custom shutters. The internal magnets are always 4” from the top and bottom (shown here as red dots) and ½” from the outer edge. In longer shutters, there’s a center magnet as shown by the red dots in the drawing. As long as the shutters’ magnets align with the outer edge of the elevated glass frame, the shutter will operate properly.
When the door has a elevated glass frame, your Single Fold Shelter Shutter can be oversize and still work correctly. Below are examples of how one size glass frame can be covered by several different size shutters.
Ideally, you want the shutter size to be as close to the glass frame size as possible, but if the shutter is wider than what’s needed, simply back the shutter away from the glass frame so when it unfolds, it only extends to the edge of the glass frame. The length of the shutter you choose should be no longer than 5” to 6” longer than the frame.
